Concert Program (PDF) / Texts and Translations

The vocal music of colonial Latin America was a vibrant fusion of European and native traditions. Our concert will feature cathedral motets and popular music by composers who learned their craft in Spain as well as those, both colonial and indigenous, who were born and educated in the New World. Historical information about the composers and their backgrounds will be shared during the concert, enriching the understanding of the cultural context behind the music.
